Being a mom I often battle with the idea I shouldn’t have “me" time. Having a full time job I would rather maximize my time with my son rather than spending time on myself. I love spending time with him and at times we are normally on the go so I try to take advantage of every second I have with him when so many others aren’t around. There is just something about that quality time that I just love. What I have realized is quality time for yourself is also very important. It may just be 10 minutes but that may just be what you need. Below I’ve listed 5 simple things you can do during “me” time.
Bath/Shower: Let’s face it my shower time on a daily has to be quick because within minutes I have a little guy knocking on the door asking when am I getting out. Oh how I use to love baths before I had my son. Okay, so not really baths but sitting in the tub while the shower is on is very relaxing to me. I can fall asleep in there. Treat yourself to a nice bath or shower.
Pedicure/Manicure: You may be thinking, “Jessica I don’t really have time to sit and get a pedicure and manicure!” Well, who says you have to go and get one? I love a good pedi and mani day but sometimes the schedule or bank account says no so I have always kept all the essentials on hand for a self pedi/mani. Since I was younger there has always been something about taking care of myself that I love. Doing my own pedicures has long been a thing for me and treating yourself to a mani or pedi doesn’t have to break the bank.
Nap: As I said before, we are often on the go and at times my body definitely tells me I need to slow down. A good nap helps with that. My son 90% of the time is great at letting me have one. Oh what happened to the days when he napped all the time? Most of the time he will take one with me. From a moms perspective instead of always taking advantage to get other things done while your children are asleep know there is nothing wrong with allowing yourself to get a nap in with them.
Treat yourself to your favorite ice cream or snack: So the diet says no but once in a blue moon I say why not? I mean lets be honest I say why not a lot lol! But I am not trying to ruin your diet and I say TREAT YOURSELF once in awhile! For me a good scoop of Häagen Dasz’s Dulce de Leche ice cream with slices of bananas always hits the spot!
Read a good book outside: There is something about reading a book outside that is very relaxing. Maybe outdoors isn’t your thing so set up a comfy spot to sit and read a book of your choice.
Whatever you do take time for yourself. Being on the go can take a toll on you so always remember to take care of yourself and treat yourself to those “10 minutes”.
